American Motors Corporation (AMC) acquires Kaiser Jeep Corporation, and this favorably affected the growth of production and expansion of the model range. AMC proclaims the mantra of the 70th years: "Jeep - the car for adventures on off-road terrain". The new division of AMC, Jeep Corporation, produces a limited series of Renegade II cars, and also the all-wheel drive CJ-5 version enriched with a number of systems and devices which increase the consumer value of the car. |

New Jeep Cherokee of the 1984 model year offers compact all-wheel drive transmission, generating the boom of cars of "sport utility" class that continues in our time. It was the only in the world four-door all-wheel drive car of SUV class which was equipped, upon the customer’s choice, either with CommandTrac transmission (which allowed switching of the 2-x/4-x driving wheels modes "on the fly"), or with SelecTrac transmission. |
